Today I was thinking how I hadn’t had a good laugh in a while. Which started me reminiscing about The Chappelle Show on Comedy Central.  Then I realized it’s been a minute since I’ve heard his name. Dave Chappelle has had tremendous success. I love Chris Rock, but I think Dave Chappelle is right there. Richard Pryor himself said that he could finally pass the torch, with no surprise, to Dave Chappelle. Dave Chappelle stars in some great movies, Half Baked, The Nutty Professor with Eddie Murphy,  Under Cover Brother, and many more.

The DVD sets from Chappelle’s Show became the best-selling DVD of a television show to date, overtaking the previous best-selling, The Simpsons first season DVD.

In 2005 Dave Chappelle released Block Party. Not only was this the ultimate line up of culture and soul, but just imagine being able to throw a public party with all your favorite musical artists. This is a child hood fantasy every one dreams about. Those in attendance: Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Common, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, The Fugees, Bilal, Dead Prez, Cody ChesnuTT, John Legend and Central State University Marching Band.

Personally I love Dave Chappelle’s interview by James Lipton form Inside The Actors Studio. I love his open and truthful answers. His improvised jokes were classically timed with James Lipton’s straight man persona.
